Ombudsman Holiday Project

Annual Senior Holiday Project

More than 60% of the residents living in long term care facilities in South Carolina have no visitors. The lack of social contact and a support system often results in depression and an overall decline in health. To combat this sense of isolation, each year the Appalachian Council of Governments’ Long Term Care Ombudsman Program organizes the Senior Holiday Project. ACOG selects a senior facility from our region and has the residents fill out a “wish list” of items that will make their holiday special.

With Christmas right around the corner it is time to start collecting for our seniors. To boost the spirits of the residents we serve, we are again preparing for the Annual Senior Holiday Project this year with some slight modifications and a slight name change.
  1. The sign-up sheet to adopt an senior has gone virtual.
  2. We request that you bring the gifts unwrapped and drop them off at our office, 30 Century Circle, Greenville, SC 29607, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM on Monday-Friday.
  3. If you would prefer to give a monetary donation, we will accept that too! Checks (written out to Jessica Winters) or cash can be sent to our office. If you prefer a "touchless" donation, you may also give via Venmo at this link or search @OmbudsmanHolidayProject in the Venmo App.
All gifts/donations must be dropped off by Friday, December 2nd at our office 30 Century Circle, Greenville, SC 29607

A Thank You to Last Year's Supporters

Last year, ACOG staff members, ACOG Board of Directors, RAAC Board of Directors, and community members adopted all 46 residents at two facilities in Spartanburg County and provided monetary donations. It was great to see the local community joining in to give back to the seniors in need. Thanks to everyone’s continued support, we were able to provide each resident with the items on their wish list, as well as a blanket, toiletries, socks, hat, gloves, snack foods, and activity book.
